Why did I choose York Hospital's residency program?

I chose York FM residency because it was where I felt most at home (despite never having been to York, PA before!). At every step of the interview process,?it was abundantly clear to me that both the York FM Residency Program and Wellspan York Hospital have an incredibly friendly, supportive culture where I could thrive despite the challenges of residency. The FM Residency at Wellspan York also has a strong reputation and presence within the hospital and the local community, which was an important factor for me as I was ranking residency programs. As someone?interested in community health, medical education, faculty development, and full spectrum family medicine, I believe that York has the elements that I am looking for in a training program: a diverse patient population with complex needs, unopposed pediatrics, strong procedural training in women's health and dermatology, opportunities to contribute to medical education, and collaboration with other residencies in a teaching and community hospital setting. Finally, York was a great place to be for me - it's not only close to my home in Maryland, but is also an up-and-coming city itself with very impressive restaurants, charming coffee shops and food or flea markets, and low cost-of-living. I love it here so far and sincerely hope you join our program!
