WellSpan Medical Education

Director's Welcome

Welcome to the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. The clinical specialty of family medicine focuses on health and complete biopsychosocial well-being of individuals and families in the context of their communities. Family physicians provide patient centered care to their patients in their communities. This includes evidence based care for not only problem faced by a patient or family but also for the prevention of physical disease, psychological or social dysfunction faced by individuals and families in their communities. It appeals to students who have a wide-range interest in different aspects of medicine, who want to connect with patients and their families for longer term over life span, provide care to all members of the family of different ages, genders, and identities in their homes, work places and communities as well as in the hospitals when they are very sick.

At WellSpan, our program is driven by the passion of our faculty and other team members for education of our residents and medical students, research and scholarship for solving problems faced by our patients, families, health care and communities, and compassion for care of well-being of patients and their families in our communities.

We are dually accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and American Osteopathic Association (AOA) for three years residency training of family medicine.

The mission of our program is to train the next generation of competent family physicians who can provide the patient centered care to patients and their families which is evidence based and practical for in our communities and highly complex health care delivery systems in the country.

Our provides with opportunities for unprecedented personal and professional growth. We are all lifelong learners. Residents who make the wise choice to join our team are expected to bring their spirit, their energy, their dedication, their academic curiosity, and their sense of humor to be part of our journey which is lot of fun.
