Residency Program Director |
I have been the Program Director for WellSpan, York Hospital for seven years. It has been a great joy to watch the residency grow and flourish during this time, and the relationship the residents have with each other, and faculty is certainly our greatest strength. Prior to coming to York, I was the Clerkship Director and then Residency Director at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. I have also worked in academic settings in Eugene, Oregon and Olean, New York. In addition to directing the residency program, I am also the chair of the system-wide bioethics consultation service and committee for WellSpan. I have a PhD in philosophy with a concentration in ethics and subsequently completed a clinical ethics fellowship from University of Chicago. Each year, I co-direct a conference on reproductive ethics, with our residents presenting their ethics research. My research interests are informed consent, cesarean birth on maternal request, and alternative birthing options. I enjoy mentoring resident research projects and assisting them in their presentations and resident publications. I currently have twenty-eight peer-reviewed publications on these topics, two edited books, and five book chapters. Clinically, my interests are operative vaginal delivery intrapartum management of high-risk patients, and I work as a laborist and a preceptor for the resident outpatient office.
