WellSpan York Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency

WellSpan York Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency is a three-year, ACGME-accredited residency program located at WellSpan York Hospital, a 600-bed regional specialty care teaching hospital, and the flagship hospital of WellSpan Health.

The hospital’s recently renovated Emergency Department cares for more than 90,000 patients per year in our high-acuity, high-volume area, and features modern, dedicated treatment areas for behavioral health, cardiovascular, orthopedic, and pediatric patients while promoting patient-centered care.

WellSpan York Hospital’s Regional Resource/Level 1 Trauma Center is the only the accredited Trauma Center in York, Adams, and Franklin counties. The hospital is home to a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, STEMI Center, and geriatric-specific emergency services, and also serves as an ECMO provider. It is a receiving center for our region’s sickest patients.

The greater York region features surrounding urban, suburban, and rural communities, with a population of 500,000. Our Emergency Medicine residency program proudly offers access to:

Upon graduation, graduates from the Emergency Medicine residency program are prepared to succeed in any setting, including academic, community, fellowship, and administrative positions.

In our nearly 35 years of establishment, the program maintains more than 320 graduates practicing in all 48 contiguous states within the United States.

Our residents have gone on to pursue fellowships in addiction medicine, critical care, disaster medicine, EMS, healthcare policy, hyperbaric medicine, medical education, palliative care, pediatric emergency medicine, simulation, sports medicine, tactical EMS, toxicology, and ultrasound.
