Thank you for your interest in our program. The Wellspan York Hospital fellowship includes rotations at a single 600-bed tertiary care center. We accept three fellows per year for a total of nine fellows.
Our goal is to provide you with all the tools to become a well-rounded specialist. Our aim is to give you the skills to be able to manage even the most complex cardiovascular patients. Our program will provide significant of volume to meet your clinical needs. All fellows will be expected to reach COCATS level II in echo, nuclear cardiology and cardiac catheterization. Ample elective time also will allow further training in reading vascular studies, CT, MRI or cardiovascular genetics and many other topics. You will have exposure to the basics like echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, nuclear cardiology including SPECT and PET, catheterizations and electrophysiologic procedures including ablations and pacemaker insertions. You will also be exposed to more advanced percutaneous invertensions such as the treatment of complex coronary disease including CTOs, structural heart interventions including TAVR/mitraclip, placement of mechanical support devices including ECMO, Impella, and Tandem Heart. In addition, you will learn to perform and read structural TEE, and CT and MRI from leaders in the field
You will learn from experts in their field who are on the cutting edge of cardiovascular medicine in a geographic area with an astonishing amount of pathology. In addition, you will learn to be a teacher as we are a rotation site for three different medical schools and have residents who round on the various cardiology services. As a fellow you will be closely involved with the resident education, and this will be an important skillset to learn for your future. Finally, you will learn to hone your research skills. You will be mentored to guide you in presenting at national meetings and publishing in peer reviewed journals. We hope you will come and visit us and see what we have to offer.
